Adobe Photoshop and Premiere 101 - through layers and blending modes
2023
I developed this short module to introduce high school students to two essential software products - Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro. In order to raise excitement over these complex and sometimes intimidating tools, I started from footage the students had gathered beforehand and aimed to reach abstract and otherworldly results through an exploration of layering and blending modes.
Photography lecturer and coordination of photovoice initiative
2022
HUG - Health, urban displacement & gentrification - is a project that aims to study the health impacts of inner-city gentrification, displacement and housing insecurity. One of the study's research tools was a photovoice experiment whose technical component I coordinated. The process consisted in three workshops with the study's participants, focusing on photography's basic principles as well as exploring best practices to reach the research goals. My responsabilities also included sourcing all the necessary materials and the post-production of the final results.
DIgital image lecturer - photography and cinema
2017-2018
In 2017 I was invited to teach a weekly workshop for the AMAReMAR community project. This initiative, promoted by the Esposende's city council, aimed to tackle social exclusion through artistic practices. My lectures focused on exploring digital imaging techniques - photography and video - and their editing procedures. The first stage consisted of taking still images as location scouting for the subsequent video footage. These sessions resulted in a photography exhibition and a documentary short. The results were also later used for the Restinga music record's cover art and booklet, as well as a retrospective publication about the whole project.
